WELCOME TO THE SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
On behalf of the Greater Sacramento New Car Dealers Association and our board of directors, I welcome you to the Sacramento International Auto Show.
As president of an association comprised of the majority of the new-car dealerships in the Greater Sacramento area, I’m proud to be a part of one of the region’s largest fundraising events. To date, profits from the Sacramento International Auto Show have totaled over 4 million dollars, with the biggest beneficiaries being the children and causes in our community as well as automotive education.
Largely from the proceeds that this show generates, the Greater Sacramento New Car Dealers Association is able to fund scholarship programs for our area high schools, and American River, Cosumnes River and Sierra Community Colleges. The crown jewel of our efforts is the Professional Automotive Training Center, or PATC, a mobile automotive laboratory that has rejuvenated and kept alive automotive education at the high school and community college level in this region.
In addition to funding education programs, our dealer members are the largest contributor of sales tax revenue in our cities and counties, helping supply jobs for more than 7,000 men and women, including services such as police and fire. As individuals, association dealer members take an active role in shaping the future of their cities and towns. They are among the largest givers in the community, funding charitable programs, coaching youth sports and volunteering at churches and community centers.
As an attendee of the Sacramento International Auto Show, you are also playing a part in helping us raise funds for worthy causes, as all revenues from the Auto Show go right back into the community. Some of the charities we have supported include a $1 million endowment for Shriners Hospitals for Children, a new car and numerous wishes for Make-A-Wish, a room in the new Ronald McDonald House as well as funding for 3Strands – an organization whose goal is to have “A World Free from Human Trafficking”. Other charities include the Child Abuse Prevention Center, Front Street Animal Shelter, Sweet Dreams – which decorates the bedrooms of critically ill children – Saint John’s Program for Real Change – which helps women and children escape abusive environments and helps give women tools to change their lives – Folsom’s Hope – whose program nutures low income children with nowhere to go after school – the Wounded Warrior program, the Elk Grove Food Locker, Northern California Children’s Therapy Center, and the Mustard Seed School – which provides services for homeless children – and many, many more. For that we thank you!
And so, on behalf of the Greater Sacramento New Car Dealer Association board of directors: Jeff Bear of Folsom Lake Toyota, John Driebe of Elk Grove Nissan, Jon Peterson of Folsom Lake Ford, Matt Phelan of Niello Acura, Dave Rodgers of Roseville Toyota, Christian Simon of Lexus of Sacramento, and Tony Toohey of Auburn Toyota along with all of our dealer members, we hope you enjoy the Sacramento International Auto Show and know you are an important part of helping us contribute to the well-being of our community.
